Traveling is not a fairy tale

We often have this perfect idea of how our travels will go, thinking that everything should and will go as planned. Sorry to mess up your bubble today but traveling is not a perfect fairy tale. Most of the time, you will have some things not happening the way you planned them to.You have two choices in these situations:

1-Be upset and feel miserable

2-Embrace every single step of the journey and accept the fact that the detours make it even more beautiful.

The more I learn from life, the more I realize that nothing ever completely goes as planned. ‘If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans” and the saying couldn’t be more accurate. From our crazy adventure in Amsterdam, where we couldn’t find free beds at any hostels in the middle of the night to the time I booked the wrong returning ticket from India, I learned to laugh at myself and accept that everything happens for a reason. We might not see the reason now, but later on, we will probably be glad that these little bugs happened to redirect us toward a perfect imperfection.

Wherever the road leads you, learn to smile and let go of what you can’t change. Enjoy the long plane ride, smile at the waiter who can’t understand you, smile at the tuktuk guy who is clearly trying to make you pay double because you are a foreigner, smile at the people looking at you because your shoulders are not covered, smile when you miss your connection, smile when you forget your toothbrush, smile when you forgot the write an address down.

It’s all part of the adventure and it all works out together perfectly to create your travel stories.
